Team Information

Academics
All members of the SIUC bowling team must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and have a 2.0 cumulative g.p.a.. Academics have always come first on our team.

Team Practice
Practice is held 2 times per week and all team members are expected to make at least one practice. Arrangements can be made with the coach ahead of time if someone cannot make it to practice, otherwise all teamates are expected to be there. After an unexcussed absense team members that missed will have to meet with the coach before they can continue to practice. If a second offense occurs, this person will be suspended from the team. Each practice will focus on a different aspect of the game. One night we might do spare drills, another night we might bowl baker games, or have a team scrimmage.

Individual Practice
We have an agreement set up with S.I. Bowl for free team pracitce on Monday night. Those team members that want free bowling throughout the season can coach the youth bowling league on Saturday morning's. The coaches get to bowl an unlimited number of games any time they want as long as the lanes are not needed by paying customers.

Tournament's
All team members will roll off on Monday night to see who will go to the tournament. The tournament team is picked by the coach, it is not strictly scores.

Tryouts
Tryouts are held at the beginning of each school year about the second week of classes. They are held at S.I. bowl in Carterville. Usually the format is a 1 day 10 game roll off. The criteria will be as follows--
1.Performance
2.Attitude
3.Sportsmanship
4.Work Ethic
5.Potential
The tryout fee is $60. If you tryout and make the team there will be an additional $40 in team dues. Those who tryout and do not make the team are still a part of our bowling club. Club members get discounts on equipment like balls, shoes, bags, ect.

Funding
All fundraising is done by our team members. That's why we have a tryout fee and team dues. Basically it comes down to this. The more money we raise the more tournaments we can go to. We are a team of really devoted individuals. This year we have a new and very young board for the team. We are open to any fundraising ideas you might have. Please let us know if you have any good ones! For more information on our fundraising click here

Scholarships
This year our coach is planning on giving out 5 $500 scholarship's. The bowlers that get the scholarships will be those who win the gold star program. Here's how the gold star program works: Bowlers get a gold star if they bowl a game over 220 in a tournament, or a 660+ series in a tournament. They can get 1/5 of a star for a baker game over 220. The top 5 people at the end of the season will each get a $500 scholarship!!!
