Why I Write

The standard way of thinking about writing, is that all writers are vain, selfish, and lazy; at least that’s how it plays out in George Orwell’s mind. In the article “Why I Write,” George Orwell explains how his childhood led him to become a writer. However, Orwell never specifically said his childhood helped him with writing, he has given me the impression that the reason he became a writer in the first place was because of his poor childhood. When it comes to the topic of inspiration, most of us will readily agree that it comes from memories and experiences one has. However, this agreement usually ends on the question, “What does one really need to write a story?” Does an exciting childhood, a tragic one, fantastic memories, or just a mundane event trigger the inspiration in a writer? Some are convinced that people do need some sort of experience to motivate writing, while others maintain that writing comes from your feelings towards anything one desires.
Not everybody has an interest to write, and personally I am one of those people, however, one doesn’t have to be a professional author to write a marvelous piece of writing. I find that writing can be exciting and interesting if the topic is about something I find personally enjoyable. Writing requires time and effort to engage an audience and have them become interested in the point you are trying to get across. I write from inspiration, out of admiration and for self-expression. Not everyone has a passion to write, but with the right aspects the passion should come with it.
To begin writing a story, book, article, or blog the author needs inspiration. Individuals can be inspired by different things in life and still write a masterpiece.
